The Story
On our way back from Italy by car driving through the Toscana (Northern Italy) we stopped at a roadhouse for a break and coffee. I parked near a truck that came from Sicily which was rather dirty. By chance I looked up and saw that the wing mirrors had a certain and somehow fascinating structure of dirt created through making his way from Sicily up to the North of Italy. I took pictures. At home tried to work with it to put it in a form to make the creation process visible.
The works that are created this way are an appreciation of the work of truck drivers who normally have no connection to art. The input provided by the truck drivers through their work is an indispensable prerequisite for my work. I therefore decided to let the drivers participate in sold art ideally and commercially.

Materials
Over months I have tried various materials from paper to canvas. Because the structures are sometimes very small and need contrast the best material to get the work printed was plexy glas because it provides the posibility to use another medium: light. By using light the work has to be detached from the wall by spacers of 1 - 1,5 cm. Because of its transparency with light I am able to show the smallest nuances and even colours and intensity can be changed this way. So for now each work comes with light which can be modified by the owner according to his mood and location of each work.
Sizes
Sizes differ a lot with regards to the original photos, sizes of the mirrors, resolution of the templates and intensity of the mirror contamination. There are some square versions but the distinct tendency is rectangular to transfer the form of the mirrors and make the "path" visibile so some works are around 140x300 cm.
Input
As I have tested to apply multiple materials on trucks at all possible places the best medium to use are the wing mirrors. These have to be white. I tried to do it with ones that we covered with a plastic sheeting from the specialist for foils and films in any variety 3 M which worked quite well. But as I am only able to do this with trucks that are in my area it limits possibilities to get input from around the world.
